About Jess…
Jessica Toupin, a young lyric soprano, is a recent graduate from University of Massachusetts Amherst with dual degrees in Vocal Performance and Mathematics. Most recently, she was as a Festival Artist with Opera Saratoga covering the principal role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and singing in the chorus of Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment. She has also been a Resident Artist with Opera North covering the role of Antonia in Tales of Hoffmann.
In her time at UMass Amherst, she made her debut in the role of Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and won the Music and Dance Concerto Competition. She also recently debuted the role of Hester Prynne in the world premiere of Eric Sawyer’s The Scarlet Professor with 5 College Opera.
In 2016, Jessica made her international debut with the AIMS Orchestra under the baton of Lukas Beikircher in Graz, Austria. Additionally, Jessica has sung as the soprano soloist in Fauré’s Requiem (Mount Holyoke College), Brahms’ Requiem (Pioneer Valley Symphony) and Schubert’s Mass in G (UMass Amherst).
Jessica is thrilled to be making her debut with Opera McGill in the winter of 2020 as Rose Maurrant in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. She will also begin her studies as a candidate for a Masters in Opera and Voice from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
